It hung there on the branch
A leaf of green
Thinking of it now
Makes me want to scream
I feel sick with scare
As I watched it sway
Hanging on by the last string
Day by day
And then I got its’ message
It began to fall
I saw it there
Four days to hit the wall
I saw the leaf
Not knowing what to do
Asking around
Do you think it is blue?
I got replies back
No it’s green and it’s red
It’s purple and yellow
Surely it’s dead?
I looked at it again
The leaf landed on the floor
So I bent over and asked
How it was doing and more
Unable to cope with the answer
Unable to wait any more
I told the leaf I had to go

The Farm
Here on the Farm
Laid a shed out the back
With a pub in the distance
Neighbour across the track
It was overgrown in places
A car or two
And there in the middle
A deep pool just for you
Covered in wood
The water was unseen
With one graceful movement
You dove into the glean
And there you felt it
The giant eel speaking to you
Sliding back and forth
A pool made for two
Then you realised
The eel could not see
Talking to you in whispers
In my mind to me
Where was this coming from
Said the eel quietly
Don’t you know
Just let them be
The eel was alone
Abandoned, that’s my guess
Thinking of another
Under control but
